Some shows feel big the moment you hear about them. Moulin Rouge! The Musical is one of those productions. One that is bold, glamorous, emotional, and unapologetically theatrical in the best possible way.

That experience is exactly what audiences can expect when Moulin Rouge! The Musical arrives in Miami this spring, bringing its dazzling world of romance, glamour, and unforgettable music to the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Based on Baz Luhrmann’s iconic film, the Tony Award-winning production has become one of the most visually spectacular musicals on tour today, blending pop hits across generations with breathtaking choreography and theatrical spectacle.

Audiences can expect a visually stunning production celebrating truth, beauty, freedom, and love, featuring a mash-up of more than 160 years of music, from classic composers to modern pop hits.

Before the show’s Miami run, I had the chance to have a quick conversation with performer Michał Kołaczkowski, a swing in the national tour. With a career that includes Broadway’s The Cher Show, Broadway tours of Chicago, Dirty Dancing, and Beauty and the Beast, as well as performances with the Met Opera Ballet, Kołaczkowski brings both experience and passion to the stage. We talked about his excitement for the show, the demanding life of a touring performer, and what makes performing this story so special.

What excites you most about performing in Moulin Rouge! The Musical for audiences?

The excitement comes from the energy of the show itself. Moulin Rouge! is big, colorful, emotional, and full of music that audiences already love. Every night feels like a celebration onstage, and it’s incredibly rewarding to share that kind of joy with the audience.

Touring and performing every night can be physically demanding. How do you take care of yourself with such a grueling schedule, and what advice would you give aspiring performers?

Performing on tour requires discipline. Taking care of your body is essential, and you must rest, focus on proper training, and listen to what your body needs. These are all important. My advice to young performers is to stay committed to the craft, keep learning, and remember that consistency and self-care are just as important as talent.

The show is coming to the Arsht Center in Miami. What excites you about performing this story for South Florida audiences?

Performing at the Arsht Center is very exciting. It’s a beautiful theater and Miami has such an incredible energy. Moulin Rouge! is a story about passion, love, and artistic expression, and sharing that with audiences in a vibrant city like Miami makes the experience even more special.

So, pop the champagne and prepare for a night of spectacle, romance, and unforgettable music, because when Moulin Rouge! arrives, the theater truly becomes a celebration.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical will be at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts at the Ziff Ballet Opera House at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. The shows performances run from March 17th to March 22nd. Tickets are available at arshtcenter.org. For more information and to also purchase tickets call (305) 949-6722.
