In high school, Carol Wartenberg became a member of the National Thespian Society and in her junior year she became a member of the student theater troupe associated with Buffalo’s professional theater, The Studio Arena. She also directed her first play in high school, a 10-minute condensed version of “Moby Dick.” While an undergraduate, Carrol performed in and assisted local community theaters.
In 2020 Wartenberg founded Lesbian Thespians while associated with the Plays of Wilton. Wartenberg wanted to bring more women, like herself, back into the theater and to produce performing arts events for women, and by women. Recently Lesbian Thespians became the theater company in residence at ArtServe. She is also the artistic director of it.
