The Pet Project was founded in 2002 to assist pet owners living with HIV/AIDS. In 2007 the organization expanded its services to include the terminally ill, the elderly and disabled.
“We are so grateful that we were voted the Best Animal Rescue. We thank all those who voted for us, and we are thrilled to see that our community recognizes the importance of keeping pets and people together,” said Sue Martino, Director of Pet Project for Pets.
The organization distributes over 7,000 lbs of pet food each month. Their fundraisers include a Bowl-A-Thon, A Female Impersonator Extravaganza, A Pet Night Out, and a Fourth of July BBQ Bash.
According to its website, “The goal to provide food, veterinarian services, foster and find homes for pets suffering from the loss of their human companion will never change - that is the foundation of The Pet Project.”
