Morgan Mayfaire has been an activist in the LGBTQ community for over 50 years. He is the founder and Executive Director of TransSOCIAL.
The organization was created to promote unity within the LGBTQ community and increase trans visibility, acceptance, understanding the unique challenges faced by transgender individuals in the community and society at large, especially during these dark times of political and social intolerance.
"Winning this award is an incredible honor and deeply meaningful to me. It signifies not just recognition of the work I've done, but of the resilience, strength and power of the trans community as a whole. The award reflects the collective efforts of so many individuals and organizations who are pushing for change. To be recognized by the very community I advocate for is both humbling and motivating. It encourages me to continue fighting for equal rights, access to healthcare and the dignity that every Trans person deserves," said Mayfaire, second time winner of the award for Best Local Trans Advocate.
What makes him unique as an advocate is that he is deeply embedded in the community, he understands firsthand the struggles and triumphs of Trans people from his own personal experience. He is driven by a desire to see lasting change, not just for today's generation but for future generations of LGBTQ individuals. Whether it is through grassroots organizing, policy advocacy or direct service work, he is relentless to bridge gaps in care and support, ensuring that no one is left behind.
"I am grateful for this award, I look forward to working alongside the community, to create a brighter, more inclusive future for all," Mayfaire said.
