As the holiday season officially kicks off with Thanksgiving weekend and Black Friday, people are ready to shop and party til they drop. But the biggest joy of the season is in thinking of others.
Many LGBTQ groups are holding toy drives and fundraisers for children in South Florida. Here are a few of the LGBTQ-sponsored events this holiday season:
Friday, Nov. 24: Bears of South Florida and Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida hold their annual Teddy Bear Drive at Hunters Nightclub.
Thursday, Nov. 30: Pride Corner Art & Frame will collect toys at the closing reception for the "Art of Drag" exhibit.
Wednesday, Dec. 6: Pub On the Drive’s Annual Wreath Auction. Bespoke and fab wreaths are auctioned off for Kids In Distress. The event, hosted by Electra, begins at 8 p.m. Wreaths may be dropped off at the Pub starting a week before the auction.
Friday, Dec. 8: Wilton Collective hosts Undercover Santa. Fab food and drinks plus live entertainment. Admission is $25 and an unwrapped toy.
Sunday, Dec. 10: Santa Sip & Strut. Wear your best Santa drag and bring an unwrapped toy to LIT then strut your red self up the drive.
Now Through Dec. 17: Judy Shepherd Toy Drive. Women With Pride and The Pride Center are collecting toys and monetary donations for the students of Thurgood Marshall Elementary.
