With three months left in the budget year, Wilton Manors is rearranging the budget to fit reality. At their meeting on June 25, the commission unanimously approved changes to various city funds.
Most notable was the disappropriation of $2 million from the Sewer Fund. This raised eyebrows because, for years, infrastructure funds have been reassigned to other projects or the General Fund. City Manager Leigh Ann Henderson says this is not the case.
She said that this year, not all the money was used. Some projects may not have started or not used as much money are some potential reasons. Commissioners have resolved not to use infrastructure funds as a reserve piggy bank.
Other notable movement was an additional $1.1 million for the General Fund and $1.4 million for the Capital Projects/CPR Fund.
Board Appointments
Two city advisory boards were ready to fill open (or soon-to-be open) seats. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board had three openings. The commission voted unanimously to appoint John Fiore, Helena Hantzes, and Robert Hadley. Board Chair Patrick Harris will leave the panel.
Hadley currently sits on CAAB, the Community Affairs Advisory Board, but his term is up, and he decided to apply for a new board.
Planning and Zoning had four openings. Bill Desautels, Louis Izquierdo, John Fomook and Scott McCoy. Because Izquierdo was moved from alternate member to full member, Chris Boylen was voted in as the new alternate member.
Current Vice Chair Rudy Molinet and Richard Safaty will leave the board.
