Staying active outdoors doesn’t have to end just because summer is over.
Rainbow Sports League (RSL), a South Florida athletic group that strives to create a “safe, social and inclusive” environment for LGBTQ people, is hosting an array of organized games, leagues and tournaments this fall.
Here’s a glimpse at some of the weekly activities planned starting next month:
Ultimate Frisbee
RSL will host 7v7 ultimate Frisbee games every Monday from Oct. 7 through Nov. 25 at Osswald Park. You can join as an individual or with a team, but it costs $70 per person regardless of which option you choose.
Matches last from 7-8 p.m., and will be structured as two 20-minute halves. The signup deadline is Oct. 1, so there’s still time to get a group together before play begins.
One thing to note: this league, like most others RSL hosts, is only for those 21 and up, and will end with a post-game party at a local bar.
Volleyball
Six v. six volleyball matches will kick off on Oct. 8 and occur every Tuesday through Nov. 19, while 4v4 games will start Oct. 10 and take place every Thursday through Dec. 5 at Mickel Park.
Signup deadline is Oct. 2 for 6v6 matches, and Oct. 11 for 4v4. Registration is $70.
Soccer
Starting Oct. 2 and occurring every Wednesday through Nov. 20 are 7v7 soccer matches. Registration deadline is Sept. 22 and the signup fee is $90.
Matches will take place at Mills Pond Football Fields.
Kickball
Co-ed kickball games will occur every Saturday from Oct. 12 through Nov. 23 at Mickel Park. Signup deadline is Oct. 6, and registration fee is $70.
Similar to volleyball, there is an option to join either an advanced or recreational team, depending on your skill and/or comfort level.
Pickleball
RSL hosts multiple pickleball games that vary by skill level. To check out the different options, as well as some of the other activities the group offers, visit rainbowsportsleague.com.
