South Florida is ready for a musical winter wonderland this weekend. The Pride Center will host the Holiday “Jammin’ at The Center” concert on Saturday evening, December 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.! You won’t want to miss this magical holiday show featuring Davis & Dow that will warm your heart and fill it with joy.

While their style is deeply rooted in the jazz standard tradition, Davis & Dow weave different genres of music into their repertoire, from bebop to bossa nova.

“Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate the season with us and spread the spirit of love and togetherness!” says Robert Boo, CEO of The Pride Center. “You’ll be blown-away by the level of talent and artistry.”

“Jammin’ at The Center” is an eight-concert series by consummate artists that is delighting our diverse communities. Until May, you can enjoy a different fantastic concert on the third Saturday of the month.

You can purchase individual concert tickets for $25 per person. Tickets include two beverages and free parking.

Need the perfect gift for someone special this holiday season? The Center also is running a “Holiday Special” for the final five concerts in 2024 for $110. Visit PrideCenterFlorida.org for more details!

The Center’s monthly Jammin' at The Center performances will transport you to a world where every note is a love letter to your senses.

The dynamic jazz duo Davis and Dow are two strong halves of one BIG sound - a culmination of performing and touring together for 30 years. They tackle jazz, Brazilian, and pop standards with a daring sense of abandon, with Julie’s voice compared to Ella Fitzgerald and Kelly’s 7 string guitar called “Orchestral”.

Julie Davis is everything from scat-singer to balladeer. She grew up listening to the music of Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, and Ella Fitzgerald among others on her parent's vinyl collection. Singing jazz came naturally to Julie from a young age. Her reviews speak of her gifted talent: “A confident singer with a compelling stage presence who possesses a wry kittenish voice with claws. She is a stylist that seeks an original twist on everything she performs; a risk-taker who’s scatting suggests she learned in her bassinet”.

An alum of the University of North Texas, Kelly Dow is a world class 7 string guitarist who considers himself a perpetual student of the instrument. His primary influences are Joe Pass and Wes Montgomery. He blends all styles from Bebop, Brazilian to Classical to create a strong individual sound delivered with power and sensitivity. Kelly teaches guitar at North Broward Preparatory School where he also started a Suzuki program which fosters teaching guitar at a very young age. “Simply orchestral in support," “swinging,” and “multi-hued” is how critics have described his playing.

This Saturday, you’ll be Jazzin’, Beboppin’, and Bossa Nova-ing around the Christmas tree.

The Pride Center Board Chair Christopher Bates helps curate and produce “Jammin’ at The Center” using well-honed knowledge, artist relations, and concert management experience.

This program was made possible by a grant from The Our Fund Foundation, an LGBTQ community foundation.
