Palm Beach Realtor Burt Minkoff is hosting a clothing drive to benefit Compass Community Center’s Youth Program April 18.
Partnering with three art galleries in West Palm Beach, Minkoff hopes to collect gently used clothing and accessories to provide for participants of Compass youth programs.
Compass Community Center is Palm Beach County’s only LGBTQ community center and only agency with programming specifically for LGBTQ youth. The youth program boasts a youth drop-in center, age specific support groups, a free library, parent groups, and support services.
Minkoff is a highly successful realtor specializing in high value homes in PBC, including Bernie Madoff’s multi-million dollar Palm Beach home back in 2012.
A resident of the area for over 20 years, Minkoff is giving back to the community in big ways. He always donated his old, lightly used clothes to worthy causes, but noticed that there were no local organizations that provide clothing for LGBTQ youth.
“I figured, since most of us dress pretty well,” said Minkoff with a chuckle, “that we would have some good clothes to give to our youth.”
Minkoff is partnering with three art galleries: New Wave, TW Fine Art, and Kristen Hjellegjerde. Each gallery will accept the donated clothing and are located on Florida Avenue, just north of Belvedere. Minkoff hopes to turn this into an annual drive benefiting the Compass Youth Group. Clothes can be dropped off between 6 and 8 p.m. at any of the galleries.
