Two LGBTQ-focused organizations, Pridelines and Foo Society, are joining forces to open a physical space in Miami intended to offer a multitude of physical and mental health services for the queer community.
The new space, called Pridelines powered by Foo Society, Inc., will open its doors on Oct. 15 and operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It’s located at 20464 S Dixie Highway, Cutler Bay.
Edward Summers, Pridelines’ executive director, said the space will include things like a David Bohnett Cyber Center, private offices for counseling sessions, a lounge area for socializing and a boutique clothing area. The partnership will also provide access to services like HIV/STI testing and PrEP linkage.
Summers said both organizations will be able to expand their reach and support through this new partnership –– all under the same roof.
“Foo Society’s unique approach to youth advocacy and creative expression will complement the health and wellness services that Pridelines is known for, allowing us to serve our community in a more holistic and impactful way,” Summers said.
Foo Society, founded in 2019, provides services to youth struggling with their identity and sexuality, according to its website. Pridelines is Miami’s only LGBTQ community center and focuses on physical and mental health services along with other outreach opportunities like a new project that will build houses for homeless LGBTQ youth.
Kyya Love, CEO of Foo Society, said in a press release that the partnership will make services more accessible to the community,
“We are not only increasing access to critical services but also demonstrating that when organizations unite, we can make a larger, more lasting impact,” Love said.
Summers said collaborating was “essential” due to the challenges faced by the LGBTQ community in underserved areas.
“We are not simply reacting to the needs of today; we are preparing for the challenges of tomorrow,” Summers said. “We are ensuring that our services remain accessible, relevant, and impactful for years to come.”
