Amidst the daily whirlwind of life's challenges, from bills to work stress, it’s easy to forget the most important thing — yourself. But in reality, it's during these hectic times that emphasizing self-care becomes even more crucial.

The Rev. Skip Jennings is hosting a Soul Harmony Retreat in Wilton Manors on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The retreat is a unique opportunity to reconnect with yourself, to heal from within through yoga, meditation, and empowerment workshops. “It's about retreating from your everyday hustle and bustle and the daily grind,” Jennings explains. “We're setting the intention for people to renew their energy, vitality, and spirit. They're coming to reconnect with themselves.”

Gentle yoga is on the agenda because “the body wants to move,” according to Jennings. Next will be meditation because the Spirit wants to be known, and “we want to connect with our spirit,” he said. Then, an empowerment session will activate energy from the body to the mind.

“We get to set intentions,” said Jennings. “We get to talk about our blocks and what’s stopping us from tapping into our greatness and empowering ourselves.”

It wraps up with healing, which will be a sound bath.

The $99 fee includes lunch, and vegetarian options are available.

Attendees are asked to bring their own yoga mats.

While Jennings is a spiritual minister, this is not a religious retreat. Being a reverend is just one of the hats Jennings wears. He’s also an author, a transformational coach, a yoga teacher, a meditation instructor, a holistic health consultant, and a podcast host. With all of that, he’s not immune from the stressors of everyday life.

“I’m dealing with many different things right now,” he says. “But I’m healing. It has a residual effect once we take responsibility for our own healing. It invites other people to go through their own healing. I believe our work in retreats goes out into the world.”

The Soul Harmony Retreat takes place at the Island City Cultural Center, 600 Ne 21st Court, Wilton Manors, on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. https://www.skipjennings.com/.
