Queens For Kamala went down at Tropics in Wilton Manors, which is also doubling as a Get Out The Vote center. The cabaret room was packed with fans of the queens and supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president.
“This is to inspire people to get out and vote because it’s vitally important to support democracy going forward,” performer Pan Demic said.
After the show, queens and fans grabbed their Pride flags and campaign signs and hit Wilton Drive. Supporters honked their horns while the crew shouted and chanted.
The night was hosted by Eric Lipson of the Imperial Sun Court and FayWhat?!. “We’ve been told before that this is the election of our lives,” she told the crowd. “It wasn’t until now. This really is the election of our lives.”
Early voting ran through Nov. 3. Mail-in ballots can be dropped off at any early voting site or mailed back to the Supervisor of Elections. They must be received by 7 p.m. on election day, not merely postmarked by then.
