Dozens of islands dot the Caribbean, each offering their own unique culture of food, music, and stories. Now the diaspora of the Caribbean archipelago are celebrating their Pride.
Pride Fête is returning to Wilton Manors on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at Richardson Nature Preserve Park. Hotspots! Happening Out are hosting the second annual event, bringing Caribbean LGBTQ culture to the fore. Everything from colorful costumes to cuisine, music and more will be on display.
More than a thousand people showed up to the inaugural event, and organizers expect an even bigger crowd this year. Octavia Yearwood is returning as the host, and DJ She J Hercules will be one of two DJs. Kerry and Pierre, the Adonis dark chocolate couple, will keep the energy up as emcees.
TP Lords will perform, as will Bella from the Gorgeous Gucci. There will be masquerade dancers in Caribbean carnival costumes, drummers, a stilt walker, and a fire dancer.
Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. VIP is $85 in advance and $100 at the door.
