OutSFL Celebrates 40 Years of Melissa St. John’s Community Service

OutSFL held a tribute show Feb. 17 for Melissa St. John – a drag queen who has dedicated her life and career to serving the community in Palm Beach County.

The tribute, Ruby Royale: A Tribute to Melissa St. John’s 40 Years of Drag Excellence & Community Service, started off with Lake Worth Mayor Betty Resch and County Commissioner Gregg Weiss recognizing St. John for her community service.

Several local queens took the stage to celebrate St. John, including her drag daughter Velvet LeNore, Erika Norell, Lupita Hollywood and Big Mama.

OutSFL also used the evening to launch the Melissa St. John LGBTQ+ College Student Scholarship fund. Individuals are still donating, so the initial numbers haven’t been tallied up yet.

St. John was recently recognized by OutSFL in our 2023 Your Choice Awards where she was voted the Palm Beaches Best Drag Performer, Best Entertainer and Best Artist.

For decades, she’s raised money for the community – perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It’s an honor for OutSFL to pay tribute to St. John. The night also served as the kick-off event for our upcoming OutSFL Mizz South Florida contest – a new pageant that will be held in May.
