As 2024 comes to a close, we take a moment to look back at a year’s worth of photos — capturing celebrations of South Florida’s vibrant LGBTQ community.
But what these photos truly highlight is the essence of community.
Yes, we’ll always face haters. Yes, we’ll encounter wins and losses in politics and at the ballot box. But no matter what, those haters will never defeat us. These pages showcase the breadth, dynamism, and vibrancy of our local LGBTQ community.
And oh, the events!
South Florida’s LGBTQ calendar is constantly packed, with something happening every month. Here are just a few highlights we featured this year:
• Latinos Salud Gala (Jan.)
• Rock The Block (Feb.)
• Palm Beach Pride (March)
• West End Lounge Grand Opening (April)
• Champions of Equality (May)
• Stonewall Parade & Street Festival (June)
• FlockFest (July)
• Pridelines Gala (Aug.)
• Julian’s Reverse Quinceañera (Sept.)
• PRISM Gala (Oct.)
• Hurricane Showdown (Nov.)
• World AIDS Day (Dec.)

This special issue wouldn’t be possible without the incredible work of photographers JR Davis and Carina Mask.
Davis and Mask has been documenting the LGBTQ community through his lens for decades, capturing our stories week after week. They are two of just a handful of photographers dedicated to preserving our history and celebrating our people.
So while this issue is a tribute to you — our readers and our community — it’s also a heartfelt dedication to Davis and Mask for their enduring contributions.
