HOLIDAY WHINES: No, it’s not, “I wanted cha-cha heels!” I’m talking about fine wines for your table.

It’s never too early to start thinking about the holiday season. Doris Italian Market & Bakery will host its Wine Night on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at its store in the Shoppes at City Centre in North Palm Beach. This is a chance to learn how to choose wines that pair with Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

During the tasting event, more than a dozen tables will be set up throughout the store with more than 150 wines from vineyards throughout the world. Admission includes an unlimited number of tastings. A table of artisan cheeses, full gourmet buffet, and cannoli cake will also be available to accompany the wine and bubbly. Whether you’re hosting a party this holiday season or need to purchase gifts, it will be an excellent opportunity to stock up on bottles of wine and champagne. Those attending will have access to special pricing on select wines during the event. Tickets are $49.95 and are available at dorismarket.com. A CLASS ISSUE

Visit Fort Lauderdale Food and Wine Festival, Jan. 10-19, offers tons of events and tastings, but perhaps the best part of the festival is the classes. Here’s a sampling of some of the classes being offered by local and national celebrity chefs. On Monday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m., Farmhouse Rules with celebrity chef Nancy Fuller will be held at Allied Kitchen & Bath. To kick things off, you’ll enjoy Nancy’s famous “GiGi Juice” and “Splendid Mushrooms on Brioche Toast.” Then you’ll learn to make Melba sauce with goat cheese and a quick chicken stew with cornbread. Then you get to enjoy the meal together with Nancy. The cost for the class is $85 per person.

Other classes (all at 6:30 p.m. and $75 per person, unless otherwise noted-most include tastings) include: The Art of Ramen with Chef Alex Kuk and Chef Diego Ng, at Temple Street Eatery, on Tuesday, Jan. 14; The Flavors of Spain with Chef Jorge Montes at Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery, High Brow/Low Brow - the art of pairing high-end wines with everyday foods, at Sidewalk Bottleshop, with Sommelier Davey Lopez and Chef Walter Navarro, on Tuesday, Jan. 14; Weird Grapes with Sommelier Roberto Colombi at Union Kitchen & Bar, on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at ($65); French Cookery with Chef Jorge Montes at Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery on Wednesday, Jan. 15; Ice Cream and Ohana with Chef Jimmy Anderson at Sweet Aloha Ice Cream on Wednesday, Jan. 15 ($50); U.S. Wine Tour with Sommelier Roberto Colombi at Union Kitchen & Bar, on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at ($65); Au Naturel Deep Dive with Sommelier Dave Lopez and Chef Walter Navarro at Sidewalk Bottleshop, on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.; Country Bling Cooking with Celebrity Chef Jason Smith at Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery, on Thursday, Jan. 16 ($85); Wine and Cake Tasting with Sommelier Tim Graham and Chef Lee Mazor at Small Wine Shop, on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. These are just the classes being offered.
