The Dark Side of the Moon | Opinion

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed in a post to X, that the eclipse, which traversed a large swath of the U.S. last week, showed that "God is sending America strong signs to tell us to repent," including "earthquakes and eclipses and many more things to come." Just when you think that things cannot get any stupider you get this kind of malarkey.

It shows how uneducated and ignorant this crackpot is.

Newsflash Greene:

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun, thereby obscuring the view of the sun from a small part of Earth, totally or partially. Such an alignment occurs approximately every six months, during the eclipse season in its new moon phase, when the moon's orbital plane is closest to the plane of Earth's orbit. In a total eclipse, the disk of the sun is fully obscured by the moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the sun is obscured. Unlike a lunar eclipse, which may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of Earth, a solar eclipse can only be viewed from a relatively small area of the world. As such, although total solar eclipses occur somewhere on Earth every 18 months on average, they recur at any given place only once every 360 to 410 years.

I am exhausted by how stupid everyone is getting. Politicians like Greene, or Donald Trump for that matter, are elevated beyond their ability to function and it's all a facade, a big fraud perpetrated against the American people, a far too real and tragic reality show. The modus operandi is to talk about God, family and guns, while robbing us blind and destroying what little is left of our democracy. There is no common sense and no common ground.

Unless you have a permanent lapse of reason you have to admit that these individuals belong in a three-ring circus or preferably in a loony bin. Placing hopes and dreams in the hands of men and women who say they are on God's side is never a good idea. It's a Highway to Hell.
